How soon we can be there

The windows on the map are drive times for an urgent call. This is the other number, the one that matters when you are picking a day: how far out the next slot usually is, by city.

Often next day15 cities

Close enough to the Santa Monica base that a job booked in the morning usually has a slot the following day. This is the Westside, central LA and the near South Bay.

Los Angeles, Torrance, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Inglewood, Hawthorne, Redondo Beach, Gardena, Culver City, Ladera Heights, Marina del Rey, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Lawndale, Lennox

Also in Santa Monica: sprinkler repair in Santa Monica, backsplash installation in Santa Monica

One to two days10 cities

Over the hill into Burbank and Glendale, east through Pasadena and Alhambra, and south to Downey and Long Beach. We group these by area, so the day you get depends on what else is already booked nearby.

Long Beach, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Downey, Compton, Alhambra, Monterey Park, Carson, Palos Verdes

Two to three days1 city

The far end of the service area. The drive is long enough that we plan it around the rest of the week rather than squeezing it in, which is why the window is wider and not why the price is higher.

Santa Clarita

Windows are what we typically hold, not a promise for a particular Tuesday. You get the real day on the phone when you book, and a call if it moves.

No travel fee, and no minimum job

The quote is the same wherever you are inside the service area. A job in Canyon Country and the same job eight blocks from our base in Santa Monica carry the same flat number, because labor and the visit are both inside the price and there is no separate trip charge on top of it. Distance changes which day we can come. It does not change what you pay.

There is no minimum call-out either. The smallest flat price on the list is $70, for window screen repair, and the rest of the 42 services run up from there. One loose towel bar is a real booking and we take it.

What the drive does change is what a visit is worth to you. Crossing this city is most of what a small job costs, so six errands booked as six visits means paying for six drives. Put them on one list and it is one trip and one price. That is the single biggest thing a homeowner here can do to get more for the money, and it is why our quotes are written per visit rather than per item.

Not sure whether you are inside the line? Put your ZIP in the quote form. It checks against the service area and tells you before you type anything else, or call (424) 645-8655 and ask.

The house decides the job, not the address

Los Angeles is not one housing stock, it is about six of them sitting next to each other, and the same repair is a different job depending on which one you live in. This is what we expect before we knock, by part of town.

Plaster and lath, Highland Park to Bungalow Heaven

Pre-war bungalows across the Eastside, Pasadena and Alhambra have wood lath behind the plaster, and lath will not hold a loaded floating shelf or a heavy mirror on a plug anchor. You hear it crumble the moment the drill bites. Brackets go into framing, heavy pieces get toggles, and a patch mixed for drywall opens again by the next dry spell.

Stucco with wire mesh under it

Most exterior walls in this city are stucco over a steel mesh, and a screw driven blind either cracks the finish or catches the mesh and stops. Holiday lights ride clips on the fascia rather than screws in the wall. A doorbell or a camera gets a masonry bit set to clear the mesh, and a smart lock gets its signal checked at the door first, because that mesh blocks Wi-Fi through an exterior wall.

Slab houses with the plumbing in the concrete

Plenty of post-war LA sits on a slab with the kitchen drain line buried under it and no crawlspace to reach. A disposal that keeps backing up is usually the drain, not a dead motor. Before a dishwasher or a washer goes in we check the shutoff and the drain height, because nobody is getting under that floor to fix a mistake later.

Salt air, Redondo down to Belmont Shore

Within about a mile of the water hinges corrode, screen mesh rots and exterior caulk fails years earlier than it does inland. Beach-side doors from Santa Monica through Torrance get marine-grade hardware and a strike set with screws long enough to reach framing, because salt pits a cheap cylinder and strips the finish off a plate.

Hard water in the Valley and the San Gabriel

Hard water is why faucet swaps and regrouting are among the most-booked jobs in Monterey Park. It crusts aerators, whines through a fill valve, seizes old closet bolts to the flange so they have to be cut rather than turned, and leaves a chalky film in grout that clouds fresh sealer if nobody scrubs it out first.

Front desks, quiet hours and the elevator

A Westside condo runs on the building's clock, not ours. Loading docks and metered parking in Santa Monica, gate and concierge access in Beverly Hills, HOA quiet hours in Valencia and Stevenson Ranch, a service elevator that has to be booked before a backsplash saw or a treadmill crate arrives. We plan the visit around that, which is most of why we start on time.

Cities we serve

Construction Hub works out of Santa Monica and covers 26 cities around Los Angeles, grouped into 4 zones: Central & Westside, South Bay & Harbor, San Gabriel Valley, Santa Clarita Valley. Most of our jobs are on the Westside, but we drive out to Long Beach, Torrance, Pasadena, Burbank and all the way to Santa Clarita. We do not have a storefront. An insured handyman comes to you with the tools for the job, and you approve one flat price before any work starts. Each city below has its own page with the neighborhoods we cover, the jobs that come up most there and what they cost.

More LA-area neighborhoods added regularly. Not sure if we cover you? Just call and we'll let you know.

Service area: FAQ

Do you come to my city?

If it is one of the 26 cities and areas listed on this page, yes, and so are most of the unincorporated pockets between them. If it is not listed, put your ZIP into the quote form: it checks against the service area and answers in seconds. Calling works too.

How soon can you get here?

Same week, and often next day on the Westside and in central LA. Farther out it is usually one to two days, and Santa Clarita runs two to three. You get the real window on the phone when you book, and a call if it moves.

Is there a minimum job or a call-out fee?

Neither. There is no floor under the job and nothing added for turning up. The cheapest thing on the price list is window screen repair at $70, and labor and the visit sit inside whatever number you approve. What we would say is that two or three small jobs booked together go a lot further than the same three booked one at a time.

Do you charge more to drive out to Santa Clarita or Long Beach?

No. There is no travel surcharge and no separate trip charge anywhere inside the service area, so distance shows up in the calendar rather than on the invoice. It is also why we would rather quote a whole list in one visit than drive out three times for three small things.

Can you come out today?

Sometimes. The map on this page shows the typical drive time for an urgent call by zone, from about an hour on the Westside to two or three for Santa Clarita, but that assumes somebody is free. Call and we will tell you straight away whether today is real.

Do you work in apartments and condos, or only houses?

Both. We are insured and can send documentation to a building manager where the building asks for it. Tell us on the phone if there is a loading dock to book, a gate code, a front desk, or quiet hours the HOA counts, and we will schedule around it.
