Handyman in Los Angeles: FAQ
Our building has a city inspection coming up. Can you fix the small things first?
Yes. The Housing Department inspects rental properties with two or more units on a parcel on a regular cycle, and it posts a notice at the property at least 30 days before the inspection. Windows that won't open, leaky faucets and peeling paint are the kind of items it lists as non-urgent.
My house is in an HPOZ. Can you paint the outside?
Only after the city's review. City Planning says properties in its Local Historic Districts must undergo additional review for exterior renovations and other changes to the exterior, including changes that may not require a building permit, such as landscaping and paint.
Do you work in older LA homes with plaster walls?
Yes. About one home in five in the city was built in 1939 or earlier. We patch and anchor into plaster as plaster, instead of treating it like drywall.
Can you come to a hillside street on a Red Flag day?
Not to a posted one. During Red Flag parking restrictions, the Fire Department tows vehicles parked in posted spots in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, so we move that visit to another day.
Is there a travel fee inside Los Angeles?
No. Every LA neighborhood in our service area gets the same upfront flat quote with no travel surcharge.
Are your prices the same in Los Angeles?
Yes. The same upfront flat pricing applies across LA, including Los Angeles. You approve the price before we start.
How soon can you come out in Los Angeles?
Most Los Angeles jobs are booked the same week, often next-day. We text before arrival.
